I love this book! I really appreciate the recipes for different sizes of loaves and all of the informationabout the bread machine in case people don't really understand what they have. I am trying to cutback on the amount of bread I eat, but I still need to make it for my family. The kids love their breadwhatever way I make it. We tried a few of these recipes over the last few days and they are thrilled.I like to experiment and this cookbook leaves room for that. I appreciate the extras added in also.This is a good guide for someone who has a bread machine and does not know what they can dowith it.I received a review copy of this book from the publisher, but was not required to write a review orinfluenced in terms of my review.
FINALLY! A bread machine cookbook with all the basic recipes. White, wheat, pumpernickel, molasses, French, and all the other usual suspects. The trick? She gives you three to four "recipes" for each bread. 1 for 8 slices of bread, or one pound. 2 is for 12 slices of bread or a 1.5 lb loaf. Three is one for 18 slices or a 2 lb loaf. The instructions are easy to follow and comprehensive. For someone who lives alone and hates wasting 1.5 pounds of fresh bread, I am looking forward to trying many of the "8 slice" recipes.
This is truly no-fuss, just as the title states. It's almost as good as the recipe book that came with my Breadman machine years ago, but has photos as well to stimulate the appetite. I first requested a Kindle sample for evaluation, baked a 1 pound loaf of oatmeal bread that was part of the sample, then purchased the Kindle copy. The author's recipes are broken down well with each recipe listed in three loaf sizes, yet there is a good number of recipes included. Not a single one is complicated, making this a go to book for times when I need bread but don't have the time to be creative. The breads can be baked in an oven I would imagine, however I'm using this solely for a bread machine.There is a minimal amount of information provided regarding bread composition or chemistry, making this a simple recipe collection as opposed to a bread baking encyclopedia. There is a brief appendix and no index, notably lacking a conversion chart for types of yeast. You cannot reference by an ingredient or keyword unless you search a Kindle copy. Having it as a Kindle book allows me to throw together a loaf any place I may be with access to a bread machine.Regarding that first loaf of oatmeal bread I mentioned earlier, I started with hotter water than needed, adding in coconut oil instead of melted butter to make it vegan. The sugar and salt also dissolved more quickly, then when the water had cooled sufficiently, I added the dry ingredients. There was no mention of the dough being much softer and stickier than other bread doughs, but my experience allowed me to know that the instant oatmeal would absorb the water after awhile, so I knew to add only a small amount of additional bread flour with the initial mixing.
Good book with a lot of content. Only 3 stars because the author neglected to put in weight measurements along with volume.When I learned bread baking 40 years ago inEurope we did it all by weight. I still do it today. I will now have to try and convert the recipes from volume to weight. Wished it was already done.
This book has all the best recipes you could ask for. It’s well organized & the recipes are easy to follow with suggestions & substitutions. I’ve made a different bread each week & they’ve all turned out marvelous! I highly recommend this book for your bread machine.
Although I haven't yet made any recipes from this book, it is, indeed, straight forward and no fuss. And it's currently on sale in Kindle format for 99¢, a steal by any standards!* (Sadly, as of 30 March 2017 the Kindle price is $6.99, however it may go on sale again, so keep your peepers peeled!)I did notice a repeated formatting issue where recipes for the two smaller loaves were repeated on the second page of the recipe, so be careful when turning the page if you're using the 1.5 lb loaf to make sure you're using the right set of measurements.I will update this review after I've made some of the recipes.*No, you don't need a Kindle to read Kindle books as long as you have a computer or smart device: there are free apps for that!
I'm a novice to bread machines and bread-making, and my results had been a bit erratic. Major improvement to my breads using some of these recipes and my 'go to' is now the strawberry shortcake bread; I added the fruit at the beginning with all the other ingredients and the result was a fabulous bread with merely a hint of strawberry. Very pleased with results so far, and no 'lemons' created yet! The recipes seem to work well with my Cuisinart CBK-100.
Have so many more breads to try in this book and look forward to it. My every day bread is a nut bread(so good out of the machine with some butter). I use the 11/2 pound contents and the machine bakes it as a 2# loaf and it works well. When I use 2# contents the bread rises too high.
So far I have tried about 5 different breads in my Zojirushi and everyone came out great!! So I'll keep trying more. I am thinking about getting two more books for my son and a friend that that has a bread machine..
