I'll admit I snagged this one mostly on the strength of the author's name. I've already read previous books by Rysa Walker, and very much enjoyed them. From the blurb it sounds potentially interesting, but not particularly original. But I trusted the author, and I'm glad I did. Anna Morgan is a seventeen year old who is jaded by the foster care system. She also has the ability to communicate with the dead. However in this story her communication is facilitated by a dead person attaching him/herself to Anna inside her mind. She calls them "hitchers". And typically it's one at a time. At the beginning of the story Anna is playing host to Molly, a young girl who had been murdered and wants Anna to communicate with Molly's grandfather, a retired police officer, in order to provide him with information that will hopefully catch her killer. But there's more going on here than a simple murder mystery. Molly's murderer was tied to a much larger scheme involving kidnapping and experiments. And Anna's contact with Molly's grandfather brings her, and her gift, to the attention of this nefarious group. Anna, along with her younger former foster brother Deo, are both in danger. Along the way they do have some allies, including Anna's therapist and Molly's grandfather. I'll admit the basic plot isn't terribly original, although I did really like how Anna's gift was handled and the way it worked. But it's much better and more engaging that it may sound. What takes what might have been well-worn ground in another's hands and turns it into an interesting story is Ms. Walker's skill in writing a well paced story with believable characters and likable protagonists.   And while there are occasional hints of attraction between Anna and another character, it remains infrequent and very slow burn. There's no insta-love or teen angsty romance here. Something I very much appreciated.

I started this book with some trepidation. I loved Rysa Walker's earlier work (the Chronos Files), but I'm a sucker for a good time-travel story, and for well-told history, and Delphi Effect is about psychic phenomenon, which doesn't interest me as much. But Rysa is such a good story-teller that it didn't matter. I was glued to the book from start to finish.Highly recommended.

OMG! Rysa Walker has done it again! Her follow-up to the awesome Chronos Files series is just as good, if not better. Anna, The Delphi Effect's protagonist, is a young woman who hosts ghosts in her head, people who have had a particularly traumatic death or have some kind of unfinished business that they urge her to carry out for them. Anna's latest 'visitor' Mollie is a murdered girl who wants to bring her killer to justice and uses Anna to talk to her grandfather who happens to be a cop. So far, so freaky - but the story soon gets a lot darker as Anna's efforts to help Mollie 'move on' put her own life in danger. The tension in this story is absolutely gripping, the characters are well drawn and, despite the spooky subject matter, what Ms. Walker has created in 'Delphi' actually seems more grounded and real than her time travel saga. I can't wait to see how this series develops!

I often buy Amazon's 99c and $1.99 bargains hoping for a nugget. Usually what you get is dross. In this case, what I got was a well-crafted story with a good premise, great dialogue, good action and, it's well edited!I'm going back for more!

Rysa Walker is an amazing writer and this book is another winner in her collection. This book starts off as the normal run-of-the-mill paranormal teen books, but it quickly takes a turn into something more. I read the entire book in one day because I could not put it down. I liked the well-thought out plot to this story; everything makes sense. It has a lot of twists, but there is never a moment where anything feels out of place or leave you with unanswered questions. The ending made me go and buy the second book because I needed to know what happened next.

I absolutely loved this book! From the first chapter to the last, it is full of non-stop entertainment. I kept waiting for a good stopping point to put the book down and do some housework and cook dinner, and there just never seemed to be one. I have read this authors Timebound series as well, and as much as I loved it, I like this one even better. There are so many little twists and turns to it, and she does such as great job of getting the reader invested in all of the characters. I cannot wait to see where this series will take me!

After being totally engrossed in Rysa Walkers first book series the CHRONOS Files, I really looked forward reading her next book. I was caught up in Anna's story right from the start. There are lots of intriguing twists and turns and I can see that we have just scratched the surface of where we are going. I can't wait for the next installment of the series!

I found Anna's powers to be an unusual twist. And perhaps I liked it because it mimicked one of my own characters in a novel I wrote years ago, except bit reversed. LoL. I listened to the audio while driving out of state and it kept me completely engrossed. There were also other characters that had powers resembling the powers of a few vampires from Twilight (Edward and Alice particularly), which made me love this story more. But be aware of possible triggers for survivors of violence (woman especially), or parents who have lost children. These sections we're the hardest part to listen to.
